Dear lover of the Bernese Mountain Dog,
Greetings from the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain.
I am writing directly to you for one of several reasons, either:
A] your club is a member of the B-IWG and either you have represented your club previously at the B- IWG meetings or have said you are intending to attend this year.
B] You are or have been a member of the BMDC of GB and are a possible contact in your country
C] Simply, I think and hope you can help us out. If this email would be better sent to someone else in your country please forward it to them.
As you know the next BMD international event will be in September in the UK hosted by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain and as usual there will be a B-IWG meeting and International Health Seminar as part of the overall event. (If you still need details please go to http://www.bernese.co.uk/Club%20Web%20Pages/2011%20Event%20page.htm and I also attach a leaflet covering the whole week-end.)
As usual there will be a booklet produced to accompany the seminar which as usual will have synopses of the presentations by each speaker.
As an additional feature this time this booklet will also contain summaries from various projects around the world of interest to our breed. This in itself will make it of great general interest to everyone interested in the health of our breed. Work for both of these aspects is already well under way and several synopses and summaries have been received with promises of the rest in place.
However, it is planned to also include a summary of Bernese in every country possible to broaden the appeal. The information for this has to come from each country.
I have already circulated via the BIWG group but had a very poor response so I am now writing directly to people from countries that haven’t yet responded to try and progress this aspect. It does not matter whether your club or country is being represented at the meeting this year or not, information about the Bernese Mountain Dog situation in your country can be included for the interest of the worldwide Bernese community. I hope you can see that this will make the seminar booklet a full and rounded picture of the Bernese around the world. There is a section at the end to tell us anything else you wish to about Bernese in your country or the way your club works or special problems you have. You may have a large BMD population or a very small one, it doesn’t matter. Every country with a Berner population is invited to contribute to the booklet for the interest of other lovers of your breed from all over the world. Due to the potential interest it is planned to make the seminar booklet available to people who cannot attend the seminar.
If you are coming to the seminar and BIWG meeting the information in this form can form the basis of your report from your country to the meeting but you can of course add more things afterwards as you think about your presentation.
Please can you complete the attached “guidelines for the meeting” form on behalf of your country to be included in the seminar booklet. If you cannot do this please pass it on to someone who can. As it says on the form some sections may be difficult to apply to the situation in your country so just do the best you can and use the notes to explain if you need to. When the booklet is published of course everyone who has helped out with this will be acknowledged.
As response has been slow I am running tight for time and will need your replies in the next few weeks, middle of July is the limit really.
I hope you can help and make sure your country or club is represented in this section and help us produce a really wide picture of the Bernese Mountain Dog around the world. Please note I may have written to more than one person in a few countries in the hope someone can reply, so please talk to each other to avoid duplication.
Thank you for your attention and I look forward to your responses. If you need any clarification please feel free to ask. If details of the event have not reached you until now then of course it is not too late to join us in September. Details can be found in the attached booklet or via our web site page (given above) and once you have all the details places can be booked on line, again details are on our web site.
Best Wishes and I very much look forward to seeing some of you in September.
